スチュワーデス物語 Intro/ED - A Stewardess' Story
"Stewardess Monogatari" was one of the very first Daiei TV dramas that I watched when I was in Japan and I liked it a lot. It was a bit melodramatic and over-the-top but the story had heart and I couldn't help but route for Horie Chiemi. Sometime the show seemed like a JAL (Japan Airlines) promotional video but it also helped to add to the realism as a lot of the actual JAL training instructors and equipment/procedures were shown during the course of the series. Appropriately enough Asakura Miki's cover of Irene Cara's "Flashdance (What A Feeling)" was used as the ending theme. While not the best of the Daiei TV Dramas, it was definitely an enjoyable show.
Story:
Matsumoto Chiaki (Horie Chiemi), a petite, clumsy and somewhat naive girl has always dreamed about becoming a JAL (Japan Airlines) Stewardess. Her father, a former JAL pilot had recently died and she is now living with her abusive step-father (Kato Akio). Following her dream she enters the JAL Training Academy where she meets up with handsome instructor Murasawa Hiroshi (Kazama Morio), a former JAL Purser who is set to marry Shindo Mariko (Katahira Nagisa), the rich daughter of a JAL Executive. While at first Murasawa is cold and cruel to Chiaki, a love develops between them, much to the dismay of chief flight instructor Kakino Ryuta (Ishidate Tetsuro) and the chagrin and jealousy of Mariko. Chiaki faces many challenges during her training (learning how to swim, memorizing flight times, learning English). Her efforts are further hampered by Mariko's spiteful attempts at sabotage and the cruel and manipulative efforts of her stepfather's who is absolutely against her from becoming a stewardess.
