Koressos (Turkish: Bülbüldağı (Mountain of Nightingale)) in the vicinity of Ephesus, Turkey (7 km from Selçuk). It is believed by many Christians and Muslims that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken to this stone house by Saint John, after what Christians believe to be the crucifixion of Jesus and Muslims believe the rise of Jesus to heaven, and lived there until her Assumption into Heaven according to Catholics and Dormition according to the Orthodox. THE HOUSE OF THE VIRGIN MARY ( MERYEM ANA EVİ ) The House of Mother Mary is on the top of Bulbul Dağ (the Mount of the Nightingale), seven kilometres south of the ancient city of Ephesos. Here the Blessed Virgin is said to have lived her last years on earth. It was reconstructed on the foundations unearthed in 1891 by the Lazarist Fathers following the detailed description given by a German bedridden pious lady who claimed to have been shown this neighbourhood during visions of the Virgin Mother with which she has been pridileged. Soon after, this place started to attract pilgrims and today this is visited by pilgrims who come from all over the world. Pope John XXIII visited this shrine many times during his stay as Apostolic Delegate in Turkey while Pope Paul VI and Pope John Paul II came here as pilgrims in 1967 and 1979 respectively. Hristiyanlığın kutsal anası Meryem Ana'nın Evi, Bülbül Dağı üzerinde bulunmaktadır. 1891 yılında yapılan kazılarda ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Hristiyanlar tarafından "Panaya Kapulu" olarak da adlandırılan kutsal yerin MS. 4. YY'da inşa edildiği tahmin edilmektedir. Meryem Ana'nın Mezarı da Panayır Dağı'nın kuzeydoğu eteğindedir. Yıllar boyu her 15 Ağustos'da Meryem Ana Evi'nin bulunduğu Panaya Kapulu'da dinsel törenler düzenlenmiştir. 1957 yılında Papalık da burasının Meryem Ana'nın Evi olduğunu onaylamış ve Hristiyanlık için "Hac Yeri" ilan etmiştir. Hz. İsa, çarmıha gerilişinden kısa bir süre önce annesini, arkadaşı ve havarisi olan St. Jean'a teslim etmiştir. St. Jean da, Hz. İsa'nın çarmıha gerilişinden sonra Meryem Ana'nın Kudüs'te kalışını sakıncalı bularak, onu yanına alıp kaçırmış ve Bülbül Dağı'na getirmiştir. Kutsal bakire, ST. Jean tarafından gizlendiği Bülbül Dağı'nda 101 yaşına kadar yaşamını sürdürmüştür. Hrıstiyanlığın kabulünden sonra Bülbül Dağı'nda 'Hac' şeklinde bir kilise inşa edilmiştir. St. Jean Efes'te yaşamış ve söylentiye göre İncil'i burada yazmış ve burada ölmüştür. Can Akın
