Ten Timesaving Tricks ~ Pirate Storm
'Avoiding an Ascent' - Simply put, this trick avoids having to take the flying pot up the tower. In missions where there are no barrels, you can jump in the pot, then immediately jump out and splash jump for the same effect.
'Sonic Speed Meets Gate' - This shows a very useful trick that is used throughout SSR: phasing. This is accomplished by running (sometimes sliding, sometimes speed breaking) at a solid object with proper angle and speed. If done correctly, you should go right through it. Keep in mind only some objects can be phased through.
'Go Around or Plow Through' - This shows a few tricks for the first section of the dreaded PS No Pearl mission. First of all, if you stay all the way to the right you skip having to deal with the blades and the pearls, even if it looks like you will be hit. Secondly, a well timed short hop with wind crest can make that entire difficult section in the middle a breeze. Also notice that I hit a chest afterwards and outrun the pearls. That is why wind crest is awesome :p.
'Cutting the Crow's Nest' - This trick allows you to avoid the entire upper section of the second ship, cutting off a ton of time (and you also get a silver another ring out of the deal). All it requires is a good ramp jump off the staircase.
'Early Final Grab' - No I will not help you shake faster (I struggle with it too sometimes). Yes, I will show you a way to skip an entire attack sequence you are normally forced into. If you have the best Homing Attack skill, and you pull out his third horn at the exact right spot in the level, you can grab him before he begins his wave attacks.
'Freefalls and Sword Skips' - The usefulness of simply falling off an edge at full speed is impressive in SSR. Here, with that technique and splash jump, I make the platforming section a breeze, skip two ascent swords, and beeline straight for the rail after reaching the top.
'Through the Ceiling' - Not much to explain here, but an interesting note: if you fall before reaching the other ship, you will appear in a void similar to that from my first video. Unfortunately you can't do anything there.
'Sequence 'Break'' - A Sequence Break is the gaming term for skipping a supposedly required object. Here I skip the springs and enemies below by using a speed -break- off the tower.
'Freestyle Platforming' - Its just trick after trick after trick here, avoiding the time consuming springs, boosters, and enemys in favor of a more classic method of getting around: jumping. First booster: charge jump over it; Enemy gap: short hop over it; First spring: Freefall to the left ot it; Second spring: Jump and air dash over it; Elevated platform: Splash jump onto it; Second booster: Charge jump over it (or, faster, splash jump over the thing to the left of it, but I didn't figure that out until later); Enemy gaps: Barrel over them.
Ignore the last trick thing, Groudon insisted on it.
'The Infamous Rail Glitch': Those at TSC who performed speedruns of SSR about a year ago will know this trick very well. Sonicandamy (Read: noob everyone wants to beat) first used a variation on it to get the PS4 record, and it remained untouched for around a year. But the secret is gone now, and this trick is in public domain. To perform it, you must perform a switch (press 2 on the rail) JUST before you fall off it. It will take a lot of practice to get it perfect. If done correctly, you should fly through the air with the greatest of ease...and skip the entire ending section.
